What does DTP do?

In the DTP department, I start the day by collecting order folders and the corresponding artwork. It’s important that we check whether everything is in order. This includes checking the resolution, colors, and the trim of the files. If any of these points are not correct, we report it to sales so they can prepare it or request new artwork from the client.

After that, we handle the orders one by one, which means we place the artwork under the cutters (to check if it fits well on our cutters). For complex displays, we always consult with the display designer to ensure it is correct. Afterward, we create a "print-ready" PDF and a "proof" PDF, which the sales team sends to the client for approval.
If we’re creating a lifesize display, I of course first check if the resolution is correct and if the proportions are suitable for a lifesize. Then, I make the lifesize image cut-out with a white bleed. From the cutout of the figure, I create a cutter file, which I send to the plotter so the figure can be cut out.
In between, I receive requests from sales to check customer artwork and approval notices, and I then send the artwork to the print plotter.
